COL Benjamin C. Chapla, Commanding Officer of Fort Sheridan, will be reviewing officer at today’s review on Ross Field at 2:30 p.m.

The colonel reported to his present post from the Pentagon in June of this year. A graduate of the Military Academy at WestPoint, he studied at Oberlin College studying French prior to entering the academy. During his Army career he has been a student at nine Army schools and has also been an instructor or in charge of several schools. Col. Chapla has trained and directed ski platoon field maneuvers and constructed a division camp for desert training. While assigned as Professor of Military Science and Tactics at St. John’s University, Collegeville, Minn., Col. Chapla took a special course in military religion. The colonel, a native of Ohio is married to the former Opal Smerchek of Racine, Wis.
