Regular steamship service from England to Australia was established in 1877. In the early days a close association with the Pacific Steam Navigation Company existed. The Orient Line was once one of the most recognized names operating on the route between Great Britain and Australia, forming an essential connection between the Empire's many peoples. The great vessels of the Orient Line included Oronsay, Orsova, Orcades, and Oriana.
