The organization, founded on January 1, 2000, and headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia (with a move to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, planned during 2024), boasts a unique array of major collections, each holding significant historical value.

 

 

The Ocean Travel collection is the pride and joy of the GG Archives, containing thousands of documents, including passenger lists, steamship and ocean liner brochures, passage contracts, programs, menus, and information about the history of ocean travel, including steamships and ocean liners.

 

 

We also have an online RMS Titanic Exhibit that enthusiasts will likely enjoy. Our offerings are further enhanced by the Epicurean collection, a culinary journey through history, and the Immigration collection, a testament to the American melting pot. Each collection is a gateway to a different era, a different story waiting to be discovered.

 

 

The Influenza Pandemic of 1918-1919 collection documents the devastating influenza pandemic that claimed millions of lives worldwide. The Military collection contains artifacts and documents related to different military conflicts in which the United States has been involved.

 

 

The Vintage Fashions collection is a comprehensive journey through the history of fashion, featuring clothing and accessories from the late 1800s and early to mid 1900s. The Works Progress Administration (WPA) collection is a rich documentation of the history of the WPA, a New Deal program that played a crucial role during the Great Depression by providing jobs for millions of unemployed Americans.

 

 

An unusual exhibit, the Bangor Punta collection, stands out. It houses historical documents and artifacts from the Bangor Punta Corporation, a conglomerate of diverse companies that existed from the 1960s to the 1980s.

Leading our organization is Paul K. GJENVICK, MAS, a seasoned archivist whose expertise and dedication ensure the preservation and accessibility of our collections. It's All In the Name

The GG Archives, originally known as 'The Gjenvick-Gjønvik Family History Center,' was founded by Paul Gjenvick to honor his family history in the United States and Scandinavia. The name of the archives was chosen to add a personal touch. 'Gjenvick' is the original incorrect translation of 'Gjønvik,' a unique Norwegian name that first emerged in the late 1800s. This personal connection is further emphasized by the name of the archives.
