Built by Blohm & Voss, Hamburg, Germany. Tonnage: 16,971. Dimensions: 588' x 65'. Propulsion: Twin-screw, 16 knots. Quadruple expansion engines. Masts and Funnels: Four masts and two funnels. Passengers: 239 first, 224 second, 2,391 third. Maiden voyage: Hamburg-Southampton-Cherbourg-New York, March 27, 1909. Service: Inaugurated a new service to Boston, along with the Cincinnati in May 1913. Renamed: (a) Mobile (1917), (b) King Alexander (1920), (c) Cleveland (1923). Fate: Scrapped in Germany, 1933. Sister ship: Cincinnati.

Two Grand Cruises "Around the World," 1911. Arrangements are being made by the Hamburg-American Line for two cruises of about three and one-hâlf months each "Around the World," the first to leave from New York on 21 October 1911 and the second from San Francisco on 6 February 1912. The large, new transatlantic liner "Cleveland " will make these cruises. The rates will be from $650.00 and upward, including shore excursions, railway and carriage fares, hotel accommodations with meals, guides' fees, etc. CRUISE I. Eastward from New York. 21 October. 1911. Passengers may leave New York on any steamer of the Line having available accommodation and sailing during the spring and summer of 1911 and join the S. S. "Cleveland" at Naples on 3 November 1911. CRUISE II. Westward from San Francisco, 6 February 1912. Passengers may return to New York from Naples. Genoa, Southampton. Cherbourg or Hamburg by any of the Company's great liners, similar accommodation to that occupied on the Cruise being provided, up to 15 July 1912.
