Norwegian-American Easy Fixing Chili Recipe
Want a tasty and easy to make recipe for homemade chili? This variation created by Chef Paul uses easily obtained ingredients suitable for the Nordic-American palate.
List of Ingredients
- 20 oz of Lean Ground Turkey
- Two 16 oz Cans of Bush’s Chili Beans (Medium)
- 28 oz Can of RoTel Original Diced Tomatoes & Green Chilies
- 28 oz Can of RoTel Mild Diced Tomatoes & Green Chilies
- Medium White Onion
- 10 oz Bag of Frozen Diced Green Peppers
- 10 oz Bag of Chopped Onions
- 1 ½ Cups of Celery
- 2 tsp Fajita Seasoning
- 2 tbsp Chili Powder
Cook ground turkey thoroughly chopping up so that the cooked size is small chunks. Remove any excess grease (there should be very little). Add the two cans of Bush’s Chili Beans, two cans of Rotel, coarsely chopped white onion, diced green peppers, bag of chopped onions, thinly chopped celery, Fajita Seasoning and Chili Powder. A 10-Quart pan works well for combining the ingredients. Simmer on medium low for at least 90 minutes (I usually simmer for 3 hours). Serve with hot sauce and crackers.
Lower Heat Version
For the more sensitive palates, replace the original RoTel Diced Tomatoes & Green Chilies with the Mild version of the same. Also, replace the Chili Beans with the Mild Version and reduce the Chili Powder to 1 1/2 Tablespoons (or suit to taste).
Note: This recipe is also suitable for the Crock-Pot -- Cook on low while you're away and come home to a delicious filling meal !
