Pricing and Shipping Policy of the GG Archives
Deaccessioned Materials and Other Materials
The GG Archives prices original historical items including books, ephemera and other items to cover our cost of purchase plus a built in contribution to the GG Archives for continuing operations. This generally represents a fair market value or retail price. Historical items represent a particularly difficult comparative pricing as the value, often established at auctions such as eBay or major auction houses in New York or London, often do not represent the value to a genealogist or family historian who found information about a family member or had family members (ancestors) listed in the book, passenger list or other document.
Rare books typically increase in value over time and our library contains a fair number of rare or out-of-print books. We try to research the estimated value (if identical items are available elsewhere, and price them accordingly). We then price the book to cover our purchase price plus any additional value due to the book's rarity is also considered.
Our primary purpose has always been to provide information of high quality to our patrons. Selling excess inventory -- a Deaccessioning of materials no longer needed and includes weeding out items that our outside of our collection scope.
Members of the GG Archives receive a discount on their purchases (10% and save 50% on Shipping Charges). So if you are planning on purchasing multiple items during the next twelve months, we recommend a GG Archives membership, currently about $20 per year.
Shipping Costs and Limitations
All items are shipped USPS Priority Mail (See https://www.usps.com/priority-mail/ for information) or USPS Priority Mail International (see https://www.usps.com/international/priority-mail-international.htm for rates). International buyers please contact us prior to purchase to make sure that the item can be shipped to you. If you are purchasing multiple items, we can often combine items into a single box and save shipping costs.
We strive to ship items within two to three business days. If any delay is expected, we will inform you. Once an item has been shipped, we will send you an email with the tracking information.
All payments must be made through PayPal. Once you have decided to purchase an item from us, we will need certain information such as bill to/ship to addresses your email address. We prepare an invoice for your purchase(s) and the invoice is sent via PayPal. One payment is received, we ship the item. Insurance is optional but recommended. All items FOB shipping point and title (including risk of loss) passes to the purchaser as soon as the item ships. All packages are tracked with a unique ID created by the US Postal Service. With that ID, you can track your shipment to its destination.
All Sales "AS IS"
All sales are final on an "AS IS" basis. Assume that all items are in good to excellent condition unless stated on the page the item is being sold on. Historical items of poor quality are typically available at a modest cost that generally includes a small contribution to the archives.
What Items are for Sale?
When we deaccession an item from the GG Archives, we create a for sale listing within our GGA Gift Shop. Patrons can purchase the item from the GG Archives via email. Note that all items are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Once and item has been sold, it will be marked accordingly (SOLD).
